What is Microblading?

Microblading  is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic. Pigment is inserted into micro-cuts using a sterile handheld manual tool. Unlike traditional tattooed eyebrows, microblading creates a more natural effect with strokes that resemble 3D brow hairs.

What is the Signature Brow?

The Signature brow is our own personalized procedure that mimics the concept of hair strokes, like Microblading, but this technique is preformed with a machine. Unlike Microblading the Signature Brow works on all skin types and lasts longer for fuller and more vivid brows. The Signature Brow is meant for more of everything Microblading has to offer.

How long do these procedures last?

Both procedures can last anywhere from 6 months to two years. Factors such as skin type, sun exposure, age, and exfoliation can have an impact on how often a touch up is required. Typically, the darker the color, the longer it will last. Following our before/after care instructions plays a vital role in the outcome of your brows.

Will I need to have a follow up?

Yes! Both Microblading and the Signature Brow are a two step process. The follow up session should be at least 4-6 weeks after your initial procedure. It is required to fill in any areas that did not hold pigment and to polish off the brows to ensure it retains color for the maximum amount of time. Pigment color and thickness may also be adjusted at this time. After the follow up you can come in for touch ups between 6-18 months at a lower price to maintain your brows. After 18months we charge full price. Please remember to book your follow up appointment no later than 8 weeks after. Everyone has different skin types and heals differently. In some cases a third touch up is required, your technician will most likely let you know if you need one by your 2nd follow up procedure. The Signature Brow is guaranteed to be less maintenance than Microblading depending on your skin type and habits.

Does the procedure  hurt?

We take every precaution necessary to ensure all procedures are as pain free as possible. A strong topical anaesthetic cream is used during the procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some clients find the procedure a little uncomfortable, some do not mind it at all, we all have a different pain tolerance.

How do you choose or mix the color?

During or before the procedure we will choose a color together. If you ask, we can start by applying small amounts of different colored pigments to the skin near your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. As a rule of thumb, we closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair color for the most natural results. We can mix pigments to create a custom color as well.

Can you Microblade or do the Signature Brow over an existing brow tattoo?

Corrections can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. ALL clients with existing tattooed brows done previously by another artist will need a consultation prior to booking an appointment. Please advise if you have an existing tattoo at your consultation we can determine if you are a candidate for this procedure or not. Unfortunately we will not be able to charge touch up prices if it is your first time at The Cosmetique.

How do you choose a shape?

Initially we start with you tell us what you like/dislike and what you want to change about your brows. We look at your face shape and determine which brow will suit you best. You are given the option throughout the mapping process to change things you like and dislike until we find a shape that pleases you. Usually clients with an existing brow shape wants to stay as close to their natural look and just add a bit more volume.

Eyebrows are sisters, not twins :)

How long is the recovery or healing time?

Immediately after your procedure and in the first 7 days, your brows will appear significantly darker and more defined than perhaps your desired look. It may continue to get darker over the next few days as scabs begin to form, however this is not an accurate indication of the finished and healed result. Brows will slightly shrink and your brow color will fade as the scabs fall off within 7-10 days.

In some cases, the scabs may take longer to heal and fall off. DO NOT PICK YOUR SCABS. The pigment is within the scab and you do not want to pull any pigment out of your skin prematurely. We all heal differently and what works on one client may not be effective on another so please do not compare your results. The complete healing process takes approximately 5 weeks before we do your follow up session.

What if I do not like it?

Like all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly. We highly recommend all clients to do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artists' work and portfolios when making their decisions. Our brow technician will do her best to shape and style the eyebrows to the clients satisfaction prior to the procedure and ask for your approval every step of the way. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but please understand our faces are never perfectly symmetrical.

Uneven appearance can be fixed during the touch up session. Pigment discoloration and color correction can also be fixed during the follow up session. Remember, brows will shrink and lighten up significantly after fully healing. The brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done.
